' Skincare has always been personal to me. Growing up Chinese, Traditional Chinese Medicine was part of everyday life. We did not only rely on it for illness or internal health concerns, but also for topical care. Herbs were trusted, respected, and used consistently. That understanding of balance and harmony shaped how I view skin to this day.

 

As I moved deeper into the world of formulation and cosmetic science, I began to notice a gap. While K beauty and J beauty were leading global conversations, the power of Chinese herbal science was rarely positioned with the same visibility or scientific credibility. Yet Traditional Chinese Medicine offers thousands of years of refined knowledge on inflammation, vitality, and equilibrium.

 

LUWIN was created from that realisation. I wanted to bridge heritage with modern science, and to build formulations that are not only inspired by tradition, but validated by research and designed for real transformation.'

1. Jacqueline, what inspired you to start LUWIN skincare, and what personal experiences shaped the brand’s philosophy?

 

LUWIN was deeply inspired by my heritage. Growing up Chinese, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was not something distant or abstract. It was part of everyday life. We did not only turn to it for illness or internal health concerns, but also for topical applications.

 

Herbs have been used on the skin for thousands of years, and their effectiveness has stood the test of time. I always found it fascinating that this depth of knowledge had not been fully translated into high performance modern skincare. Being able to incorporate thousands of years of botanical wisdom into daily skincare formulations felt like a powerful opportunity.

 

Skincare is something we use every single day. Bringing this heritage into a product category that is part of people’s daily rituals opens a new chapter for the industry. Our philosophy was shaped by that belief. Respect tradition, validate with science, and deliver visible transformation. 

 

 

2. When you first launched the brand, what problem in the skincare industry were you most determined to solve?

 

The biggest issue I saw was that many brands were only addressing surface level symptoms. In TCM, we always look at the underlying imbalance. It is about harmony. When I looked at the skincare industry, I saw a lot of products aggressively targeting breakouts, pigmentation or oil, but very few focusing on true skin harmonisation.

 

Skin balance is essential. When the skin barrier is compromised, inflammation becomes chronic. When inflammation is chronic, every concern escalates. I wanted LUWIN to focus on restoring equilibrium first, because only balanced skin can truly improve long term.

 

 

3. Many founders have a defining moment that pushes them to begin their journey, what was yours?

 

My defining moment came during early product testing. We were trialling what later became the Ultimate Repair Clear Face Cream for acne-prone skin. One tester had struggled with persistent breakouts for years. Within a week, around 50% of her active inflammation visibly reduced. But what struck me most was not just the physical improvement. It was her confidence shift. (In fact, we have many stories like this) That was when I realised LUWIN was not just about creating another product. It was about giving people back control over their skin.

4. LUWIN focuses on results driven formulations. How do you balance traditional knowledge, science, and modern skincare innovation when developing products?

 

For me, tradition is the foundation and science is the framework. We study Chinese herbal ingredients by analysing their bioactive compounds, their anti-inflammatory potential, and how they support barrier repair. Then we combine them with clinically validated actives in carefully considered concentrations. It is not about romanticising heritage. It is about translating proven wisdom into modern formulations that meet today’s regulatory standards. The balance lies in respecting both worlds equally.

 

 

5. What led you to create the Ultimate Repair Clear Face Cream for Acne Prone Skin, and what gap in the market were you aiming to fill with this product?

 

The market is saturated with harsh treatments. Many products strip the skin or focus purely on drying out blemishes. They often treat acne superficially without addressing what is happening in the deeper layers of the skin, especially chronic inflammation and barrier damage. I wanted a product that reduces active breakouts while simultaneously supporting deeper skin repair.

 

The goal was not just fast results, but intelligent results. A cream that calms and regulates at the same time. That dual function was the real gap I wanted to fill.

 

 

6. Acne prone skin can be both physically and emotionally challenging. What feedback from customers has meant the most to you since launching this cream?

 

We have received so many meaningful stories. Acne prone skin is definitely one of the most life changing transformations we have witnessed. Many customers have shared how their confidence has improved, how they feel comfortable going out without heavy makeup, and how their skin finally feels calm rather than inflamed.

 

Beyond acne, even our brightening and rejuvenating products have created powerful results. One customer with a heart condition told us her skin had become extremely dull and lifeless due to her health struggles. After using our brightening set, she said her skin looked alive again. Even her nurse commented on her glowing complexion and asked what she was using. Hearing stories like this reminds me that our products are not just cosmetic. They help restore vitality. There is nothing that makes me feel prouder than knowing LUWIN has helped so many people experience real transformation.

 

 

7. If someone is discovering LUWIN skincare for the first time, what makes your approach different from other brands they may have tried?

 

We focus on long term skin resilience. Healthy glow does not come from temporary stimulation. It comes from skin that is strong, balanced and functioning optimally. That is where radiance truly begins. We care deeply about skin health.

 

Every formula is designed to support barrier integrity, regulate inflammation and build long term stability. Instead of chasing trends, we focus on strengthening the skin so that it can perform better over time. We are also intentional about our range. Instead of launching dozens of products, we started off with a focused collection designed to work well.

8. What have been some of the biggest lessons you’ve learned as a founder building a skincare brand from the ground up?

 

Building a skincare brand requires patience and discipline. Product development and manufacturing takes months. Testing must be thorough and uncompromising. I have learned that credibility cannot be rushed. I have also learned that real results create long term loyalty. Marketing may create attention, but transformation creates trust.

 

 

9. Looking ahead, what exciting developments, product innovations, or expansions can we expect from LUWIN skincare in 2026 and 2027?

 

The next two years are about strategic expansion. We are working on advanced targeted formulations that continue to focus on inflammation control, pigmentation concerns and deeper skin regeneration. Retail expansion within the UK and selected European markets is part of our roadmap. However, growth will always be intentional and aligned with our standards of quality and performance.

 

 

10. Finally, what is your long term vision for LUWIN skincare, and what impact do you hope the brand will make in the global skincare space? 

 

'K beauty' and 'J beauty' have long dominated the global skincare conversation. I believe it is time for 'C beauty' to enter the industry with strength and clarity. Formulations rooted in the power of Chinese herbs deserve proper awareness. Traditional Chinese Medicine has a profound understanding of balance, inflammation and vitality.

 

People need to understand that TCM based skincare is not a trend. It is a system refined over thousands of years.

 

My long term vision is for LUWIN to become a globally respected brand that represents this movement with credibility and sophistication. I want LUWIN to elevate C beauty on the international stage and bring meaningful awareness to the value of Chinese herbal science in modern skincare. Most importantly, I want the brand to continue transforming skin in a way that feels healthy, intelligent and empowering.
